Historical Photos of Thanington Without

A group of the Royal Observer Corps who maintained an unbroken watch at Cockering Farm, Thanington Without from 24 August 1939 to 12 May 1945. Although their main duties were intelligence work for the RAF Fighter Command and the monitoring of aircraft in distress, they gave information which caused air raid warnings to be sounded. This photograph dates from 1945 and shows the members of Post B2 (in Group 1.) outside their bunker at the farm.
